My Writing

Writing is like taking a cake knife to life and slicing it into tiny, palatable pieces – devolving the composite, complex whole into a sliver of four dimensions (Space + Time). The 20th-century avant-garde film director and cinema theorist Dziga Vertov called his style of film the “art of organizing the necessary movements of objects in space as a rhythmical artistic whole, in harmony with the properties of the material and the internal rhythm of each object.” Writing is that art for me, decomposing life as a whole and then arranging slivers of thought and actions and plating it in some semblance of a coherent whole. Writing is an attempt to work out the disharmony of our internal thoughts and parse out the harmony of the wor(l)d.
